Of West Newton died Thursday evening at the Newton / Wellesley Hospital after a period of declining illness.
Born in Platania, Calabria, Italy Maria migrated to the United States as a young woman and has been a resident of West Newton for the past 44 years.
Maria loved all things to do with her family and her siblings. When not cooking and preparing meals she would take great joy in her garden raising her own vegatables.
She was the daughter of the late Michele & Caterina ( Marchione ) Bonadio and the devoted wife of the late Michelangelo Nicolazzo who died in 2011.
Maria is survived by her Daughters Carmelina Arcuri and her husband Lucio of Wellesley, Caterina Cotter and her husband Danny Cotter Jr., of Newton, Her sons,Roberto Nicolazzo and his wife Deborah and Michelangelo Nicolazzo and his wife Grace both of Newton, Her Sister Vincenza Villella of Italy, her brothers Pietro Bonadio and his wife Maria of Australia, Anthony Bonadio and his wife Christine of Waltham, Franco Bonadio and his wife Nadia of Newton. In addition she leaves her cherished grandchildren, Flavia, Noelle, Danielle, Roberto, Ellie, DeAnna, Guilia & Mila. Maria also leaves many Nieces & Nephews.
Maria's services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham with a Mass in Celebration of her life at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Washington Street., Newton at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will take place in the Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, Waltham immediately following. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours in the Brasco & Sons Memorail, 773 Moody Street, Waltham on Monday 4- 8 p.m.
