Atty. Frederic Albert Crafts Jr.,

Of Weston died Friday April 14th at Newton / Wellesley Hospital.

Born in Newton, Massachusetts he had been a Weston resident for most of his life.

Frederic was a Graduate of Weston High School, and received his A.B. at Harvard University, Cambridge in 1950 and Graduating from Boston University Law School with his LLD in 1953 and Graduated the Suffolk University Graduate Law Program 1960.

Frederic served with the United States Army Intelligence from 1953 through 1955 during the Korean Conflict.

He was an associate with the Weston, Patrick & Church Law Firm in Boston from 1956-1958, he opened his private practice on Boston Post Road, Weston 1958 until 1972, forming a partnership of Crafts & Jones in Weston from 1972 -1978, and then formed Association of Crafts, O'Neill & Young, Attorneys in Weston 1979 - 1990 and continued practice as Crafts & Granich Attorneys in Weston.

Mr. Crafts spent many years involved in Land Planning and Development in the towns of Weston, Wellesley, Wayland, Lincoln, Sudbury and Concord from 1965 until 2010. He represented E.R.A. Kirsch Real Estate of Waltham 1994 - 1997 and again 2008 - 2014. From 1998 - 2008 he was associated with Phoenix Commercial Real Estate from Framingham.

He served as secretary of the Middlesex County Bar Association from 1958 - 1963, as President from 1965-1966, and also served as the President of the Newton, Waltham, Weston & Watertown Bar Association from 1966 - 1967.

Having been involved in Community service most of his life, He served as President of the Wayland Kiwanis Club in 1962, served as chairman of the Wayland Cancer Fund Drive in Wayland in 1958, and served as Co-Chairman of the Weston Cancer Fund Drive in 1965, served as Scoutmaster Troup # 157, Boy Scouts of America at Saint Julia's Church of Weston from 1972 - 1976, served as Committee Chairman and Institutional Representative from Troop # 157 from 1976-1984, while serving on the Executive Board, Norumbega Council, BSA Newton from 1974- 1984.

He received Community wide recognition for his service on the Weston Recreation Commission from 1969 - 1984. He served as advisor for the Norumbega Council BSA and Saint Julia's Church, Weston from 1972 1984.He served as a member of the Professional Relations Advisory Committee of the Waltham Hospital from 1978 - 1984

He was a long time member of the Weston Golf Club, an avid golfer, a dedicated gardener, and an enthusiastic drummer and played with the Traditional Jazz Band in Lincoln for many years.

When he was in his eighties and finally had some spare time he authored a book titled "Remembering Monomoy" which was acclaimed by the Boston Globe, the Harvard Magazine, and numerous local and Cape Cod Newspapers.

Frederic was the Son of the late Honorable Judge Frederic A. Crafts, Sr. and the late Josephine (Mears) Crafts., and the brother of the late Dorothy MacDonald.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Rosemarie (Nenadow) Crafts, his daughters Miss Amy C. Crafts of Concord, New Hampshire, and Ann M. Crafts of Waltham, his son Frederic A. Crafts, III of Tokyo and his granddaughter Frederica Crafts of Washington, D.C., and her mother Sybille Neidhart Crafts of Martha's Vineyard.

A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Frederic's Life will be held at Saint Julia's Church, Weston Center on Saturday morning May 20th at 9:30 a.m.. Interment will be private. The Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham will be assisting Frederic's family with arrangements.
