Of Brunswick, Maine died Tuesday January 24th at home after a period of failing health.
Born in Germany, raised in England, and as a young man immigrated to the United States, living in Waltham and Concord, Massachusetts, and Brunswick, Maine.
Alex was an engineer employed by the Mitre Corporation until his retirement.
The most admired person in the most influential person in his life was his late Mother, and he had great respect for the entire Apollo team that he worked with over the years.
He loved travel and his trips to England, especially London and the Cotswolds, and the White Mountains.
He enjoyed Formula 1 auto racing, watching ice hockey with partiality to the Boston Bruins, hiking and mountain climbing as a younger man, listening to classical music, working on his domestic household projects, and lunching with his friends.
Most will remember Alex as a loyal friend and good father who was both intelligent and charming.
He was the brother of the late Doris and Jan.
He is survived by his wife, Candace Litchfield, his children Peter Kosmala of Washington, D.C., Kirsten Alper of Waltham, Margaret Kosmala of Belmont, and Daniel Kosmala of Portland, Maine, his brother Rupert Kosmala of Tewksbury, 4 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
A Memorial Service in Celebration of his Life of which family and friends will gather to share memories will be held on Saturday May 6th 2017 at the "Mary Catherine Chapel" of the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham from 2-4 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
