Of Waltham, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Beaumont Nursing Home in Natick. She was 86.
Born and raised in St. Albans City, VT, to the late Walter Sweeney and Hazel (Robinson) O'Clair, Dorothy moved to Newton, MA when she was 16 and was a graduate of Newton High School. Shortly after graduating, Dorothy moved to Waltham where she had been a resident ever since.
Dorothy worked as the ladies locker room manager at the Pine Brook Country Club in Weston for over 30 years until she retired at the age of 82.
In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed reading, going to the beach, and going to the movies.
She was the beloved Mother of the late Don P. Sylvester and sister of the late Arthur and Robert Sweeney.
She is survived by her loving children Guy W. Sylvester and his wife Susan (Carpentino) of Chelmsford and Kim K. Sylvester and her companion, Joseph Dionne of Waltham, her daughter-in-law Gillian Sylvester of Wayland, her brother Donald Sweeney of Laurel, MS, her cherished grandchildren Brad Sylvester and his wife Niccole of Bedford, Katie Bevis and her husband Christopher of Bridgewater, Scott Sylvester of Newton, Doug Sylvester of Quincy, and Jessie Sylvester of South Boston, and her great grandchildren Jaxon and Luke. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Dorothy's life was held privately for the immediate family.
