Randall Hughs “Randy” Luck 64,
Of South China, Maine died accidently on January 8th in South China.
Born and raised in Watertown, Massachusetts Randy was a resident of Maine for the last 10 Years. A graduate of Watertown High School with the Class of 1970, he continued his education at the Cornell University and later obtained his Masters in Business Administration from University of Massachusetts.
He was the second-generation owner and operator of a family business J.B. Luck Industrial Sales Company.
Randy loved sports, playing competitive hockey and football as a young man. Later, he created “Randy’s Youth Sports,” through which he found great joy in mentoring young people in sports. He was a licensed all sports referee. His favorite movie was Rudy and he could often be heard chanting. “ Rudy, Rudy, Rudy.”
Randy was a lover of music, history, and the sciences. He played five different instruments and enjoyed sharing his talents with all who would listen.
He also enjoyed his quiet time of reflection while gardening and bird watching and feeding the squirrels by hand at his lakeside residence.
He was the son of the late James B. Luck and Evelyn (Hughs) Luck, the brother of the late Gregory Luck & Lee Luck and the uncle of the late Paul, Phil and Jay M.
He is survived by his daughter Chanel M. Luck of Watertown, brother James “Jay” Luck & his wife Julie Luck of Waltham, sister Marilyn, and his nephew and business partner James “Eric” Luck of Newburyport and several other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in celebration of Randy’s life will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of The Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham featuring a program of music, readings, and prayers from family and relatives from 1-3 PM on Sunday February 19th. Relatives and friends will gather to share memories and honor his memory.
