Of Belmont, passed away peacefully with her beloved husband of 70 years by her side on Sunday morning Dec. 18th, 2016 in Belmont Manor Nursing Home at the age of 94.
Born on April 13, 1922 in Newton; daughter of the late Henry Poirier and Sophie (Cormier) Poirier, Rita lived for most of her life in Waltham.
A graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Waltham, Rita was employed as an Accounting Officer at the Waltham Savings Bank for many years. Rita truly enjoyed working in the Gift Shop at Hawthorne’s Wayside Inn in Sudbury on a part-time basis after retirement.
Family was the central focus of her life; she enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, friends and the “Lunch Bunch”.
Rita is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years William F. Kirrane, her devoted & loving daughters Karen Cinelli and her husband John of Marlborough, Kathleen Kirrane of Waltham, and Anne Casey and her husband Robert of Waltham, her cherished grandchildren Edward Sarno, Keriane Kirrane, Kerin Casey and Paul Casey and his wife Kerry. and great grandchildren Jack and Conor Casey. In addition she is survived by many nieces & nephews.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Rita’s Life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St, WALTHAM on Thursday morning Dec. 22nd at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Lawrence Church, 774 Boylston St., Brookline at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Wednesday Dec. 21st from 4 – 7 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
