Of West Newton, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening September 28th, 2016 surrounded by his loving in the home he grew up in after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 61.
Born on January 22, 1955 in Newton; loving son of Susan M. (Corsi) Pappas of Newton and the late Charles Pappas, Bill resided in Newton for most of his life and for a short period of time in Bellingham.
A graduate with the last class of Newton High School in 1973, Bill furthered his education graduating from Northeastern University in Boston with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Management.
In 1984, Bill along with his close friend and partner opened the Colonial House Restaurant in Bellingham and operated the business until 1992. He worked as a Manager in many various restaurants throughout the Metro-West Boston area throughout his life. In 2001 Bill became the General Manager at the Waltham Athletic Club on Lexington Street in Waltham.
In 1989, Bill married the girl he met in Kindergarten many years before, Carol Ieraci at Saint Bernard’s Church in West Newton. Together they raised two beautiful children. Family was everything to Bill, he enjoyed the family trips to Washington, New Hampshire and when his kids were young attending all of their sporting events.
His greatest passion in life was golf. He was involved in different leagues and had been the “Commissioner” for the Tuesday Golf League at Leo J. Martin Golf Course in Weston. Bill recorded two (2) holes in one while golfing through the years When the weather turned cold and golf season was over; Bill moved to the indoors with a Wednesday Pool League.
He was a past member of the Bellingham Kiwanis Club.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years Carol A. (Ieraci) Pappas, his loving & devoted children Charles F. “Charlie” Pappas of Newton and Alexandra M. “Ali” Pappas of Newton, his loving mother Susan M. (Corsi) Pappas of Newton, dear brothers Anthony Pappas and his wife Liz of Mattapoisett and John Pappas of Newton. In addition he is survived by his loving extended family and numerous close friends.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Bill’s Life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday morning Oct. 4th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:00 a.m. Committal ceremonies will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Monday Oct. 3rd from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
