Of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 27th, 2017 in her home at the age of 92.
Born on September 30, 1924 in Waltham; daughter of the late Camillo Vellante and Agata (Iannetti) Vellante, Rita was raised in Waltham and moved to Watertown for 42 years before moving back to Waltham.
As a young woman, she had been employed during World War II at the Waltham Watch Factory as a Government Inspector, then with American Thread Company in Boston, and as Inspector of Government and for a short period of time at Brandeis University.
Her love for family was the most important aspect of her life. She was a devoted & loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband the late Watertown Firefighter Eugene T. Mosca.
Rita is survived by her loving children Michael E. Mosca and his wife Loretta of Acton, Marie M. Mazzeo and her husband Joseph of Bedford, her cherished grandchildren, her devoted sisters Norina Fitzmaurice and her husband Arthur Waltham and Delia Vellante of Waltham, and her dear sisters-in-law Ida Santamaria and Adeline Dolan both of Norwood, and Ursula Mosca of Belmont. In addition she is survived by many nieces & nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters Alice Vellante and Ellen Falzone.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Rita’s Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT on Friday morning Aug 4th at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday Aug. 3rd from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
