Obituary for Antoinette G. Pizzi (Gallo)

Antoinette G. Pizzi (Gallo)
Of Woburn, formerly of Belmont, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Thursday afternoon May 26th, 2016 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge at the age of 93.

Born on August 24, 1922 in Lawrence, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Gulla) Gallo and raised in Brighton, Ann was a resident of Belmont for 70 years before moving to Woburn in 2014 to be with her daughter and her husband. She previously resided with her son and daughter-in-law in Belmont for over 35 years.

A graduate from Brighton High School with the Class of 1940, Ann worked at the United States Army Base in Boston during World War II.

In 1941, Ann married her soul mate and the love of her life Rudolph William Pizzi. After the war they settled in Belmont and she stayed at home to raise her 6 children and returned to work in the 1970's at Contract Research in Cambridge Ma. Upon leaving Contract Research she was employed at the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University until her retirement in 1987.

Family was the single most important aspect of her life especially her grandchildren. She radiated love and brought joy and comfort to those that knew and loved her. She humbly accepted her vocation as a wife and mother and set out to create a beautiful family. The legacy of her life is the family she raised and the generation who followed. They are teachers, doctors, artists, musicians, dancers, nurses, veterans, business owners and more. Antoinette did not let war or hardship stop her from working and taking care of the people she loved. She was a true member of the greatest generation with the purest of heart and soul.

She was an active and devoted member of Saint Luke’s Women’s Sodality in Belmont and an avid supporter of Saint Jude’s Charity. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, dancing and playing cards.

She was the beloved wife of the late Rudolph W. Pizzi.

Ann is survived by her loving & devoted children Rudi J. Pizzi and his wife Evelyn of Plymouth, Fredrick Pizzi and his wife Susan of Belmont, Michael Pizzi of Woburn, Marian Pizzi Lentine and her husband William of Woburn, Belmont Fire Captain John Pizzi of Waltham and Lee Stevens of Hingham, son-in law Bernard Saulnier of Natick, her dear sisters Jean Vello of Waltham, Elizabeth Willis of Natick, Patricia Stafford of Holliston, in-laws Carl and Elena Ferioli of Wareham, Lillian Gallo of Sherborn and Joanne Pizzi of MissionViejo, CA. In addition she is survived by 14 cherished grandchildren, 15 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

She was the loving mother of the late Linda Saulnier, sister of the late Lenore Vultaggio and her husband Joseph, Marion Berardino and her husband Sid, Anthony “Butch” Gallo and sister-in-law of the late Edmund Pizzi.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Service from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapel, 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT on Thursday morning June 2nd at 8:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Antoinette’s Life at Saint Luke’s Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Belmont Cemetery.
