Karen Malikowski

Of Waltham, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 64.

Born and raised in Chicopee to her loving parents Sophie (Kaniecki) Malikowski of Waltham and the late Walter Malikowski, Karen spent several years in Newton before finally settling in Waltham in 1985.

Ms. Malikowski earned her Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. She had a career as a Medical Technologist, most recently employed by Mass General Hospital, specializing in blood banking, tissue typing, cellular therapy, and transplantation.

In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her orchids and flowers, reading, traveling, participating in lifelong learning programs, and most of all spending time with her family.

Besides her mother she is survived by her loving brother Thomas Malikowski and his wife Valerie (Mankowsky) of Bangor, ME, her nieces and nephews Timothy Malikowski and his wife Kimberly of Hampden, ME, Mary Rowe of Bangor, Amy McNally and her husband Garth of Bangor, and Peter Malikowski and his wife Sarah of Hampden, and her dear friends Dolores "Dee Dee" Fici of Lynnfield, Carol Darling of Weymouth, and Kathleen and Christopher Cardillo of Newton. She is also survived by her cherished great nieces and nephews Emily, Alyssa, Luke, and Tyler

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend A Memorial Service in celebration of Karen's life at Saint Mary's Church, 145 School St., Waltham, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery.

Donations in Karen's memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
