Of Newton, passed away, Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 62.
Born and raised in Newton to the late Harvey and Nancy (Ferlazzo) White, he was a 1972 graduate of Newton South High School. Gary raised his family in Billerica until moving back to Newton in 1996.
Mr. White worked for the Town of Lincoln in the Public Works Department as an arborist. He worked there for 30 years until his retirement 2 years ago.
In his spare time, Gary enjoyed vacationing on Mooeshead Lake in Maine, where he loved to fish, hike, and climb, three hobbies he passed on to his 3 sons. He traveled the world, including the Swiss Alps, to go climbing. Gary Loved animals especially cats and dogs, the outdoors, and most of all spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving sons Andrew White and his fiancée Judi Chase of Seekonk, Michael White and his wife Shona (Bernard) of Franklin, and Brandon White and his wife Julianne (Bodio) of Kingston, his sister Carol Dennis and her husband Alan of Falmouth, and his former wife Jeanne (Regan) Learned. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Glen White.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Tuesday, March 8, at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Gary's life at Sacred Heart Church, 1321 Centre St., Newton Centre at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
