Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Monday afternoon December 7th , 2015 with her loving family by her side at Saint Patrick’s Manor in Framingham at the age of 86.
Born on January 19, 1929 in Newton; daughter of the late Archiberth and Cecelia (McDermott) Elwin, Marie was raised and lived most of her life in Newton, moving to Waltham in 1990 and then to Great Barrington before residing at Saint Patrick’s Manor in Framingham for the past two years.
For many years Marie worked at T.J. Maxx, CVS and Sears department stores. She was a Cafeteria Lunch Lady at the Franklin School in Newton for several years. Much of her life was spent volunteering and giving of herself to help others.
In years past she was a member of the Rosary Sodality at Saint Bernard’s Church in West Newton and in her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo.
Her true passion in life was providing a loving home for her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her devoted & loving children Martin Kennedy and his wife Ellen of Arlington, Diane Buckley of Norwood, Charles Kennedy Jr. and his dear companion Becca of Peabody, Marie McAvoy and her husband Timothy of North Carolina, Kevin Kennedy and his wife Beth of Sudbury, Carol Bersaw and her husband Daniel of Great Barrington, Steven Kennedy and his wife Holly of Maryland, Donna Clossey and her husband the late Philip of Boston, and the late Joseph Kennedy and his wife Amy of Saugus. In addition she is survived by 19 cherished grandchildren and 11 adoring great grandchildren. She also leaves her lifelong best friend Andrea Simonetti of Belmont.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Thursday Dec. 10th from 3 – 7 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Marie’s Life will be held in the Chapel of Saint Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central Street, FRAMINGHAM on Friday morning Dec. 11th at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass in Saint Patrick’s Manor on Friday from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Needham.
